Team Brayden's Boss Believers!
Welcome to our Junior Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to CURE Diabetes team! We are taking the steps to help achieve JDRF?s mission: to find a CURE for Diabetes and it's complications through the support of medical research.
Our eldest son Brayden, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on Jan. 14, 2011 before he turned 9 years old. Type 1 Diabetes involves very close monitoring of blood sugar and must receive insulin injections to maintain his blood levels properly. We feel like we have become full time nurses, dieticians and even pharmacists as we are constantly monitoring his food and adjusting his insulin doses to help Brayden manage his condition. The road has not always been easy, there are no vacation days, and we continue to make Brayden understand that this is now a part of his daily life.
As much as we want Brayden to experience a "normal" childhood and get him fully involve in Club Basketball Team & his love for music, there are times when he does not feel well when his blood sugar goes too low or too high or can't always eat what he wants at the time he wants. We are blessed to Home School Brayden to give him the proper care that he deserves. However, the most burden for a young boy to fully understand, is Brayden must have his blood sugar levels tested eight to ten times a day and gets a minimum of two daily insulin shots-- this equates to approximately 300 sticks & injections every month, or the last 8 months alone had total of 2,000 finger sticks and 500 shots in his arms and legs which will continue for the rest of his life--- until a CURE is found.
On November 3,2013 (Sunday) at 9:00AM, our family and friends will be walking on JDRF?s Walk to CURE Diabetes at University of California Irvine (UCI). We believe that in Brayden's lifetime there will be a CURE for his condition. Scientists had come a long way with improved insulin formulation, a better needle to check the blood sugar, a more reliable insulin pump and now are getting closer than ever to find a CURE, but research can only be done with enough funding.
We hope you will support us in helping find a CURE for Brayden and the
millions of other people with diabetes. There are several ways to support us.
1. You can pray for Brayden and for a cure.
2. You can join our family team, "Brayden's Boss Believers and walk with us on Sunday,
3. You can give a tax-deductible contribution of any amount to JDRF and Brayden's Belief.
Every dollar will help and every dollar will bring us one step closer to finding a Cure.
Thank you for your support on Brayden and assistance in finding a CURE for the millions of people that live with this Diabetic condition each and every day.
With sincere thanks,
Dale and Vanessa Munger

The money our JDRF Walk Team raises will go directly to support this life-changing research.
The JDRF Walk is a fantastic way to make a difference in the millions of lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes. For at least that one day, they will look around and see all the support they have from their friends, family and community. On Walk Day, everyone can have fun and celebrate how much closer to a cure we are because of their efforts.
Each member of our team is already hard at work in their fundraising. If you have taken time to visit our team page today, we ask that you consider making a donation or joining our team.
