This will be the third year that I have the pleasure of walking in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at the Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes in San Diego! I work for a company called ViaCyte which is making strides to transform the lives of people living with diabetes. ViaCyte’s primary goal is to develop a product that frees people with type 1 diabetes from long term insulin-dependence. We share JDRF’s focus on developing better treatments that will help people with type 1 diabetes live healthier now and in the future.
Through these years I have also become involved in the JDRF Young Leadership Committee and have been lucky enough to meet countless children, families and young professionals who live every day with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Every day I am thankful for the good nights rest I get without worrying about my blood sugar level, or having to change port sites or worry if one of my life saving devices goes on the fritz. I live free of all of these worries and I want nothing more than to be able to some day look at my friends and colleagues and say that people with T1D can do that as well. THAT is what JDRF is supporting, that is what ViaCyte is striving for and that is what I am walking for this year.
Please join me in supporting the JDRF this year by backing my steps on November 9th at Balboa Park. Your generosity is appreciated by me and so many others!
