My name is Blake.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was two years old. I'm five now, and I still live every second with it.
My mom and dad watch me closely and test my blood sugar several times each day. It hurts when they poke my finger, but I like knowing what my number is.
I got type 1 diabetes because a body part called my pancreas stopped doing what it was suppose to. I need insulin to be administered under my skin several times every day. If I don't I will get very sick and could even end up in the hospital or lose my life.
There is no cure for Type 1 Diabetes, but my family and I have hope in medical knowledge advancing and we look forward to seeing what JDRF will do in the future. Without my help and the help of friends like you, they wouldn't have the means to advance forward in their research. Please continue to pray for me and all those like me as we daily walk through life with diabetes. You can help by signing up and walking with us, or through giving a donation here.
I don't like diabetes, but it's something I live with everyday. Please help me anyway that you are able, so that one day I can say, "I used to have diabetes".
