I'll never forget the day that doctors diagnosed my child, Conan, with type 1 diabetes (T1D). August 20, 2010.That day changed our lives forever. A once in a lifetime experience, or so you'd think...Until it happened again! May 3, 2013 my older son, Aaron, was diagnosed with T1D as well. And that's why I'm walking with JDRF on November 9, 2013 - to help JDRF fund research that will progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until it is no longer a threat to anyone. JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic plan to fight T1D.
The onset of T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. At present, there is nothing you can do to get rid of it. People with T1D must manage the disease by injecting or pumping insulin several times a day, every day. But insulin is not a cure, and it does not prevent the possibility of serious complications like kidney failure, blindness, and stroke.
Please help us by supporting me directly, making a donation, or joining my team and becoming a fundraiser. Helping the 3 million Americans that have T1D has never been simpler.
I want you to know that JDRF uses your gift with great fiscal care. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education. Past JDRF research efforts have helped to significantly improve the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
We greatly appreciate your consideration and support of this worthy cause. Even if you can't join us at the Walk, we appreciate any and all donations made to our fundraising efforts for JDRF.
If you have any questions or need any additional information, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your support.
