Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes on November 12.
Victoria, my beautiful 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, this summer. The picture is of her 4th day at the hospital. It is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. Along with doing 6-8 blood checks (finger pricks) every day, she also has 5-8 insulin injections. This is alot for any little kid. We are hoping some day they will be able to find ways to make her life easier through better treatment or a cure...insulin pills instead of injections, or maybe using stem cells to regrow beta cells (the cells that make insulin).
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
