Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
In 2006, my niece Madison was diagnosed at age 2 with Type 1 Diabetes. Since then, I’ve been searching long and hard for ways to fight this terrible disease. I started volunteering for JDRF San Diego Chapter in 2009, participated in Walk to Cure Diabetes every year and this year I’ve added a bowling fundraiser to my resume. I will again be a virtual walker for 2013 walk in San Diego and will be volunteering for both Hershey, PA and San Diego, CA Walk to Cure Diabetes.
JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic plan to fight type 1 diabetes (T1D). They'll do that by progressively removing the impact of T1D from people's lives until it is no longer a threat to anyone.
T1D's onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. At present, there is also nothing you can do to get rid of it. People with T1D must manage the disease by injecting or pumping insulin several times a day, every day. Insulin is not a cure, and it does not prevent the possibility of serious complications like kidney failure, blindness, and stroke.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
That's why I walk with JDRF - to help them fund research to discover, develop, and deliver new drugs and devices that cure, better treat, and prevent T1D.
Thank you for your support!
