I'm participating in the 2014 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes for Aiden!
On April 5, 2014 our family and friends will be walking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. As you may know, I have a personal connection with this disease that affects millions of children and adults. My nephew, Aiden, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2009 at the age of 5.
Aiden is now 9 years old and thriving. He has an amazing attitude and rarely complains about all that is involved in managing his diabetes everyday. Each day is a balance of checking blood sugars, counting carbs, administering insulin shots and getting plenty of excercise all to maintain a healthy blood sugar level.
As you can imagine, this has forever changed all of our lives. While managing day to day through these life changes, we are committed to JDRF and fundraising for this important cause. JDRF raises funds that power the global movement to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). Please join us in our commitment and dedication to JDRF, the leading global organization focused on T1D research. We are working to turn Type One into Type None.
We have formed our walk team, Aiden's Annihilators, in order to do two things:
1) Raise money to support the research required to cure, treat and prevent T1D, and
2) provide support while managing this disease.
Please know that more than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. Past JDRF research efforts have helped to significantly improve the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
We greatly appreciate your consideration and support of this worthy cause. We look forward to having as many people as possible join us. Even if you can’t join us at the Walk, we appreciate any and all donations made as part of our fundraising efforts for JDRF.
If you have any questions or need any additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Again, thank you from all of us for your generous support of Aiden.
Aiden and I really appreciate your support both financially and emotionally. We are so blessed to such amazing friends and family in our lives.
