Join me in the fight to cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes!

Hi my name is Sarah and I am 5 and half years old. I am a Type 1 Juvenille diabetic. Me and my family will be participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabeties.  I go to school, I am in gymnastics and I play soccer. My dreams are to become a doctor and a singer one day so that I can help people and make them smile with my music.  I love school and I love to run and play with my friends.  I was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenille Diabeties last October.  I wear an insulin pump to keep me healthy.  My mom and dad and the school nurses help me count my carbs everyday and we check my blood sugar 7 to 10 times a day.  Sometimes I feel low so my mom has to give me sugar to bring my blood sugar up and other times my blood sugar is high and I have to have extra insulin. My dream is to one day not have to wear an insulin pump and to have a cure for Type 1 Diabeties. My family and I walk in hopes that one day their will be a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.  If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening.  And they know it never goes away. If my blood sugar get's too low I can go into a coma, if my blood sugar get's too high I can go into a coma and I can have long term effects like damage to my liver, my eyesight and heart problems.

I am asking for your support.  Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts.  By doing so, you can help me and my family make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes. I would like all the children and all the parents to be able to sleep in peace knowing that Type 1 Diabetes will be Type None soon.

Did you know that:

  • T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
  • T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
  • Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
  • Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day?

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?

Thank you for your support!
