Hello friends and family,
This is my fourth year planning the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in Jacksonville, FL. The 2013 event is scheduled for April 13th. Over 7,000 people will be in attendance and the goal of the event is to raise over $600K for type 1 diabetes research!
If you are able, I would love for you to participate in this fundraiser by joining my team and/or donating. Can you support?
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that strikes suddenly and has no cure. Oftentimes children and young adults are diagnosed, though it can develop at any age. T1D occurs when the body's own defense system (the immune system) attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. People with T1D must inject themselves with insulin several times every day or continually infuse insulin through a pump. Even with constant monitoring, T1D is dangerous and can cause many long term complications.
Thank you in advance for any support you can provide.
Lauren
