Welcome to Brenda Cox's Home Page

As most of you know, my oldest son, Brandon, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) on April 16, 2009 when he was 15 years old. This diagnosis was a life changing event for our family, but especially for Brandon.  Since that moment, he has had to prick his finger multiple times a day to test his blood sugar and give himself insulin injections each and every time he eats.  As there is currently no cure for diabetes, Brandon will have to manage this disease for the rest of his life. While he is doing a great job controlling his diabetes, we are praying and working for a cure.

Brandon graduated from Stanton College Preparatory High School last June and is now a freshman at Florida State University. He was accepted into the prestigious film school there at Florida State, where he can follow his passion and ambition to be in film production. Brandon is inspirational as he has managed to succeed and excel in his endeavors despite the challenges he faces with diabetes.

Brandon is being responsible and doing his part to manage his diabetes to help prevent long-term complications which include diseases of the eye, nerves and kidneys. Now, I must do my part by supporting JDRF and their mission to discover, develop and deliver advances that cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes. As the global leader in the fight against T1D, JDRF?s research programs are comprehensive ? addressing the hopes and dreams of every person with T1D for the best quality of life and a cure for this disease.

This year, I'll be taking part in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with the Bank of America team and a half-million others nationwide.

I?m asking you to help support the fundraising efforts by joining the Bank of America walk team or donating to JDRF so that Brandon and others with T1D can have hope for the future.  JDRF is the best way to support this effort.  Brandon and I greatly appreciate your help.
