Dear Friends, Constituents and Family:

Many of you know that I work with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) as a professional, but, JDRF is much more than a job to me. JDRF has a mission that I believe in and I see the need for every day and that is.... A Cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that causes your pancreas not to produce insulin - therefore a person living with type 1 diabetes must check their blood sugar throughout the day, count every carb they take in and receive insulin injections 6-10 times a day just to live. Insulin is wonderful and is a great life support, but it's not a cure.

I do not have a child with type 1 diabetes and do not live with it myself, but, there are so many friends I've made through JDRF that do have to live with it every single day - there's Kaylin, Trinity, Jonathan, Emily, Sammy S, Rush, Jennifer, Ken, Carol, Robinson, Jasmine, Casey, Tyler, Caroline, Lillian, Sammy W., and the list goes on....In addition, my sweet Aunt Claudya has lived with type 1 diabetes for more than 40 years.

I see these precious children who's life changed forever with the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. Some at the age of 2, some at 12 months, some later at 30 +. The strength these individuals show every day is truly remarkable.

My family team, The Biagini Blazers, has a goal of raising at least $1,000 to help fund diabetes research through this year's Walk. I'm asking for your help. Can you please make a donation to my walk team? Or, join as a walker? No donation amount is too small and every dollar adds up.

Thanks so much in advance for any help you may provide. I know times are tough and we are all feeling "tight." Unfortunately, my friends living with type 1 diabetes don't get a break so, neither will I in my fundraising efforts.
