The Sugar Cains from 2013 Walk

We will turn Type One into Type None

Welcome to "The Sugar Cains" 2014 Team Page!

My son Justin was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on July 6, 2011, just one month shy of his 13th birthday.  His blood glucose reading was 442, and his world became filled with 4 to 6 shots a day and countless finger sticks to check his glucose levels. He has to count carbohydrates on any food that he eats to see how much insulin to inject.  Since then he has went on an insulin pump, reducing his multiple shots a day to one shot every 3 days.  He has also started using a continuous glucose monitor to keep a better eye on his blood glucose levels. The technology I mentioned has become possible through research and development funded by JDRF! They are actively improving life for people with T1D!

Each day 80 people are newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and their lives are changed forever.  Their normal existence becomes one of needle sticks, finger pricks and carbohydrate counting.  There is no choice in the matter, they either do this or they die....   JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of research to put a stop to this horrible disease! The money our JDRF Walk Team raises will support this life-changing research.

Please donate now! It is simple, fast and fun!  To learn more about Justin, please watch a video about my amazing son by clicking the following link:
