Join our team in the fight to cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes!

Thank you for visiting Connor's Caddies home page.  This will be our 4th year participating in the Walk to Cure diabetes taking place on April 13th at The Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

Gary and I were blessed with an unexpected surprise 7 years ago (will be 8 years on March 16th) by the birth of our son, Connor.  Connor was so ready to come into this world that he didn't want to stay in my belly...he tried to arrive after 31 weeks but through the grace of God (and my wonderful doctors) I carried him to 38 weeks.

If you know Connor, you well know that he goes non-stop from the time his eyes open in the morning until he lays down in bed at night from complete exhaustion.  There isn't much that gets him down.

When Connor was 4 years old, he began having the typical signs of Type 1 diabetes, although I did not know the signs.  Extreme thirst and frequent urination.  He even began wetting the bed at night and would wake up mortified because of it.  I remember the weekend we went to Wolfson's Children's Hospital like it was yesterday, it was the day that changed our lives forever. August 31st, 2009.  Our little boy was diagnosed with T1d, the cells that produce insulin in his pancreas quit working, the doctors do not know why, but were able to tell me there was no cure.  I had to learn within 24 hours how to give daily injections of insulin so my son could stay alive and will do this for the remainder of his life or until a cure is found.  Insulin helps keep Connor alive but it is not a guarantee and there are many complications associated with glucose control.  He gets his fingers pricked 8-10 times every day.  They get bloody and some are callused.  We are only 3 and 1/2 years into this.

On April 13th, we are walking to raise money to help fund research for a cure and until that time helping to find ways to make these little children's lives easier.  The money our Team raises will go directly to support this life-changing/saving research.

Please click on the "Join this Team" button if you love Connor, if you are touched by someone who has this disease, if you would be willing to help support us in fundraising, making a donation, and/or if possible walking with us to show your support.  Every dollar helps.

Thank you from the very depth of our hearts as they break watching what our son endures 24 hours a day.
