My name is Dominique McClary. I am 13 years old, in the 7th grade and I currently attend McClesky Middle School. I am probably one of the most loving, friendliest, caring, and outspoken kids you would ever meet!
In April of 2011 my mom rushed me to the hospital. My mom said I looked weak, but in my mind I was on the Sahara desert! I was sooooo thirsty I could have drunk all of Lake Lanier! Nevertheless, upon our arrival we were told that my blood sugar was 555! You should have seen my mother?s face. It was at that instance, the reality had hit?.I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Yes that?s right; I will be insulin dependent for the rest of my life.
Transitioning into my new lifestyle of diet, meds, and exercise, I participated in educational programs sponsored by JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) which has enabled my family, as well as myself adjust quickly into a life of normalcy.
As my friend, I am asking that you partner with me and JDRF as we search for ways to cure, better treat, and prevent type1 diabetes by walking with me and my mom on October 15, 2011 at 8am at Centennial Park. There are thousands of kids diagnosed daily with type 1 diabetes and we need you walk with us and experience the adventure of a lifetime.
Will you help us make a difference?
Attached you will find a donation form, if you are unable to walk, please feel free to contribute any monetary amount. There is no donation too big or too small.
Thank you for your support!
Hope to see you on October 15, 2011
