On Saturday, October 19th 2013, I will be walking in the Atlanta 2013 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes to help raise money for JDRF. Show your support by donating or joining my team, Team Alex, and walking with me to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
My cousin Alex was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 3 1/2. Almost seven years later his and his family's lives are still controlled by this disease. His blood sugar is checked about ten times during the day, even at 2:30 a.m. every night.
We are all so proud of Alex. He is very brave and will rarely complain about needle sticks, pump changes, or shots. But his biggest struggle is being different from other kids and not getting to go places with his friends.
Please support me as I work to raise money to cure this disease, for Alex and all kids with Type 1 diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It affects both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure yet.
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Please support me and donate to my Walk fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people like Alex affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible today?
Thank you so much for your support!
