Once again it is time for my family to begin the fundraising process for the JDRF Walk on October 19th of this year.. All the money that has been raised in the past has been used in research to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes. This is a terrible disease that requires administering insulin to the individual on a regular basis. Unfortunately it is not possible to ever outgrow Type 1 diabetes. It is very difficult for the person to maintain a stable blood sugar level. If this is not accomplished there can be extreme consequences boith externally and internally.
This past year there have been some HUGE steps to find a cure and also in managing the diabetes. There is a great deal of progress throughout the entire world including vaccines that prevent T1D, regrow- ing your own beta cells, an artificial pancreas on your smartphone, new beta cells from skin cells, insulin you take once a week with no need to carb count—that’s just the beginning of the future JDRF is creating. This is some of the ways that JDRF is translating these ideas into life- changing advances. There is a lead to a possible of identification of the cause of this disease. These are only some of the new and exciting developments for the future. If we can continue to support the research a cure may be found in the nearer future.
Please know that all your contributions are greatly appreciated and will be applied to this research so that we can both improving the management of Type 1 Diabetes and find the cause of this disease.
My entire family thanks you for your support,
