Aloha and welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
I'll be taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with, and affected by, type 1 diabetes (T1D). I will be walking especially this year for Chase Fletcher, a good friend of mine, who was recently diagnosed with T1D. I first met Chase when I began teaching him in 7th grade. Ever since, he has been a source of inspiration to me. Not only is he a gifted athlete, swimmer, musician and student, but more importantly he has a big heart and carries himself humbly and stoically in the midst of adversity. The money I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to remove the impact of T1D from Chase's life as well as the lives of millions of others until a cure for the disease is found.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to produce energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly, and changes life as they know it. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure currently.
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
I encourage you to become a Chase Racer in support of an amazing young man and an organization committed to ending T1D and improving the lives of those who live with it.
Mahalo nui you for your support!
