Hello! This year we will be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes.  We will be walking alongside 4000 other walkers at Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids on February 23th.  Together Tim and I hope to raise over $1000.  Our ultimate goal is a cure for our many friends living with Type 1 diabetes.  Since we have gotten involved with JDRF a generation of young kids with that were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes have grown into young adults with diabetes.  Amazing advancements have been made in the years we have been involve with JDRF.  The Atificial Pancreas is in clinical trials.  Another advance on the horizon is Smart Insulin that reacts to blood sugar levels.  Learn more at JDRF.org. Of course these advances are amazing.  Such research will drastically improve the lives of those with Type 1, greatly reducing the risk of complications.   Learn more at JDRF.org  Of course this is still life support the ultimate dream is to free everyone from the need for devices, and injections to supply the body with insulin.   Let's find that cure before the next generation goes through this struggle.

Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. The life expectancy of a child with Type 1 diabetes is 15 years less than a child without this devastating disease.

There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more Type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.  JDRF is leading the way with its efficiency as well, with nearly 85% of its funds raised each year going directly to the valuable research needed to find a cure.

Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Any donation is appreciated and will bring us one step closer to a cure.
