Caitlin vs. Type 1 Diabetes, which side are you on?

Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page. I'll be taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) including myself. As JDRF says, if you were to ask anyone with T1D, they would tell you it's difficult and life threatening. That's true. T1D is very hard to live with and calls for many lifestyle adjustments, but T1D also calls for many thanks. T1D has taught me to appreciate many things in life; big things like medication and even small things you wouldn't normally pay attention like tootsie rolls.

T1D never goes away. That's why the Walk to Cure Diabetes exists. The money that we raise goes to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in hopes of bringing us closer to a cure. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so you can make a difference for MILLIONS of people living with type 1 diabetes, myself included.

Did you know that:

  • T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age? I found out I had T1D by going into a diabetic coma at the age of 17.
  • T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle? Despite what many think, I didn't "catch" diabetes by eating "too much sugar".
  • Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night? I have to take insulin shots at least 4 times a day.
  • Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day? On average I prick my fingers about 10 times a day.

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?

Thank you for your support!
