Brandi's Personal Page

On February 18, our family and friends will be walking in the Walk to Cure Diabetes. This is our third year participating in this event. As you may know, we have a personal connection with this disease that affects millions of children and adults.  Our 11 year old daughter, Brandi was diagnosed with Diabetes almost four years ago.  As a result, besides closely monitoring her diet, Brandi must test her blood sugar levels a minimum of 4 times of day; most days it's 6-8 checks.  Brandi receives insulin via an insulin pump which is attached to her body 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We have to change her insulin pump site every other day. This will continue every day for the rest of her life unless a cure is found.

As you can imagine, this has forever changed our lives. In our attempt to encourage and support Brandi while educating those we know, we have formed a team called Brandi?s Bunch. We want to accomplish two things: 1. Raise money to support the research required to find a cure, and 2. To provide Brandi with support and let her know that she is not alone in her fight against diabetes. 

You can help! The walk is on February 18 at Crossroads Mall in Waterloo.To make a contribution in support of Brandi?s Bunch, you can mail us a check made out to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) to PO Box 136, Readlyn, IA 50668. We hope you will support us again in our fight to cure diabetes!  We pray for a cure for this disease! Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
