Happy New Year Everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed time with family and friends during Christmas. Well, it is that time of year again, The Walk to Cure Diabetes. This year it is February 16 at the Crossroads Mall in Waterloo.
As always, we willl be taking part in this year? walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). As most of you know I just celebrated my 25th year of living with diabetes. Most ask why do you celebrate?, Because I haven't let my diabetes control me and I know God gave me this disease because I am strong and can help others living with disease.
At the age of 8 my whole life changed and the countless shots and blood sugar testings began. An utter nightmare for my parents to constantly worry about their child. It's been an emotional roller coaster ride but then I put things into perspective and realize that I could be living with a much worse disease. I've stayed strong because of everyone's countless prayers and support through the years.
This year we, the Hahts, are putting together a team for the walk, Team Haht to Trot. We first want to thank everyone who supported us last year in the walk. For those who were unable to donate, we know your prayers and thoughts were with us during that time. This year marks my 23rd year of raising money for diabetes research. It's because of your donations, researchers are making diabetes more attainable to live with until they find a cure.
To keep the research going so that they will find a cure for people with diabetes, we need your support. Our goal this year is $2,500. If you are interested in donating, you can either send a check to us, made out to JDRF by February 12 or go online to donate (make sure to find my name, Betsy Haht, to donate to our team). However, if you are unable to donate, we know your prayers and thoughts are always with us and we appreciate it all!
Also, if you are interested in being a part of our team Haht to Trot and raise money, please let us know.
Thanks in advance, we appreciate everything that you have done for us and we can not thank you enough!!
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
