Hello! On Saturday, February 25, 2012 my family and I will be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $90 million.
My sister Celia was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes on August 31, 2009 at the age of 9. Luckily, I don't have it and probably never will. My children or grandchildren may not be so lucky. There is a good chance they will have it unless we find a cure.
Living with somebody that has diabetes is not always easy. Celia pricks her finger all the time and she used to have to take shots. She would cry every night when Mom or Dad gave her a shot in the leg.
Now she has an insulin pump which makes things easier for her. She still pricks her finger, but no more shots.
JDRF is the world's largest funder of diabetes research! More than 85% of donations go directly to Research & Education! I am Walking to help fund that research!
Celia's LIFE depends on insulin and a CURE dpends on EVERYONE! Please donate or join my team to help find a cure FAST!
The JDRF Walk theme this year is Classic Board Games. I helped pick our team name this year "Miss Celia's Potato Heads". The shirts are hot pink, but the design is really cool.
I hope you can join us for the FUN and a great cause!
