Hello & welcome! Thanks for stopping by to see what the Walk is all about. For those of you who don't know our story..here's the cliff notes.

Katie (13) is my oldest daughter of two, Abbie is 9 years old. Katie was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes on Aug 22, 2000 (16 months old), this was the day my world turned upside down. Thankfully it has righted itself most of the time but if I think too hard about it I could crumble. My darling daughter has to deal with the in's & out's of diabetes and I can't do a thing to change that...or can I?

We decided to start team Katie Connection to do our part in helping fund the research necessary to find a cure & also to make the technology better while waiting for that cure. We quickly realized the team does much more than that...it gives Katie & the rest of our family a sense of community and helps us to realize that although we shoulder the responsibility of Katie's health on our own, we are NOT alone in our hope for a cure.

She has had juvenile diabetes for over 11 years and this year we are walking as Katie Connection for our 11th Walk to Cure Diabetes. We would love your support in our qwest to find a cure.

You can join us for a day of fun on Saturday, April 14th in the Des Moines skywalk system. Have you walked in the past? GREAT, we look forward to having you join us again. New to the experience? That's ok too, it's quite a day. Can't be there but want to join us in our efforts? Join as a virtual walker & raise $ or donate to our cause. Whatever works best for you is much appreciated.
