Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million.
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children.
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
As many of you know, our family has been effected so personally by this disease. Our youngest daughter, Megan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on October 11, 2010. Since that date she has endured at least 6-8 finger pricks, counting every carbhydrate for anything she eats, and monitoring the amount of insulin her pumps gives her. She has an amazing spirit about it and a positive attitude. We have not yet shared with her all the long term complications that she may have to face, because she is so young we are hopeful that a cure will come in her lifetime. For now we take it day by day, but this disease is a full time job for Megan to stay healthy. Thank you so much for considering a donation to help find a cure for Megan. It is Megan's mission possible: funding a cure for type 1 diabetes.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
Thank you !!
Jenny
