Shame on me. This year I felt like we were 'too busy' for the walk. Alicia is in college now, the walk is earlier than normal, many excuses. The closer it gets to the walk the more I realize, I can never be too busy to help my daughter find a cure for the disease she lives with. She doesn't get the option to be 'too busy' - type 1 diabetes is with her forever -every minute of everyday - unless we are there to bring it to an end. SO WE WILL WALK! Whether there are 10 of us or 50, we will walk on February 16th for Alicia and everyone else with T1D! Alicia has had type 1 diabetes since the age of 10. She's now 19 and a Freshman in college. It's such a fun time for her and yet scary too. We know of a student who got the flu and died from complications of T1D. We know of another one who's blood sugar went low at a party and everyone around them assumed their odd behavior was due to drinking (it wasn't) and didn't help them. That student ended up in the hospital, but ok. It's a whole different world of worry. Let's work together to find a cure for her and all the others with type 1 diabetes. It's easy! You can donate safely online to help us reach Alicia's goal. Thank you so much for your support!
