Will you help us score a research touchdown to end Type 1 diabetes?

Eleven years ago - at the age of 5 - my son Avery was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), a life-threatening disease. With this autoimmune disease, a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. Avery takes multiple daily injections (MDI) of insulin to keep him alive. With T1D there are no days off.

However, T1D doesn't keep Avery off the court or playing field. He participates in AAU Basketball and Varsity football (with a glucose meter, insulin pen and sports drink handy at all times). I'd like to help JDRF move farther down the field towards a research "touchdown" in the future to end T1D.

This year, I also stepped up my efforts to help find a cure by joining the Greater Iowa JDRF Board. I'm proud to join this team which leads one of the largest walks per capita across the country!!

I appreciate any donations to our "Kemin Cares" fundraising efforts today.
Thank you for your support!
