Welcome to our JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Team Page!
The Tigers for Type 1 is a new walk team formed from two previous walk teams, Pump up the J.A.M (Jenna And her Mob) and Camryn's Crew. Jenna and Camryn both attend Western Hills Elementary and are proud Tigers! We are thrilled to team up this year to walk together in the effort to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes! We invite you to get to know both girls, donate on their behalf, or sign up to walk with us!
Jenna was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) on September 15, 2009. It is hard to belive it has been over three years now since being diagnosed. Jenna is a very busy 6-year-old who loves her many friends at school and is proud to be a big 1st grader this year. She enjoys reading, spelling and when asked what her favorite subject is at school, her response is "everything". She is very active and is currently swimming for the YMCA Walnut Creek Dolphins swim team. Jenna has met so many wonderful people on her journey with T1D. This year Jenna has met a very special friend at school who also has T1D, Camryn. Together, they are making a great team at Western Hills Elementary School.
Camryn was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on September 24, 2011. We have spent the last year adjusting to her new lifestyle and she has proven to us that she is not going to let being diabetic slow her down! Camryn started Kindergarten this year at Western Hills and has made many new friends including her "diabuddy" Jenna! Jenna has been a great T1D role model for Camryn! Camryn has been waiting for her chance to join Girl Scouts like her big sister, and has been loving being a Daisy!
