Welcome to the TEAM JAMIE page for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes! We are taking the steps to help achieve JDRF's mission: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. The money our JDRF Walk Team raises will go directly to support this research.
TEAM JAMIE was created in 2010 in honor of our daughter, Jamie Lynn, who was diagnosed with Type I diabetes (T1D) on January 5, 2010, at the age of 4. To manage her diabetes, we check Jamie's blood sugar anywhere from 5-10 times a day and give her 4-5 insulin injections a day, one after each meal and snack and one at bedtime. Managing her condition is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week job! Jamie has been a trooper in dealing with her diabetes. She is a very brave girl!
Jamie often says "We need to find a cure." The Walk to Cure Diabetes helps Jamie feel like she is doing everything she can to contribute to the cure. Walk Day is an important day for our family every year.
