Each year, roughly 30,000 people are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). In an instant, their lives change. Their days become filled with multiple finger pricks, insulin injections, carb counting, and a constant fear that an irregular blood sugar might cause dizziness, confusion, a seizure, a coma or even death.
This year, I'll be taking part in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with a half-million others nationwide. JDRF raises vital funds that power the global movement to help cure, treat and prevent T1D. I walk for Ben, who at age 10, hopes to someday be able to sleepover at a friend's house. Because his blood sugar could go low in the night, his friends' parents aren't comfortable with the chance of him having a seizure or slipping into a coma. I walk for Alicia, a teenager who doesn't look forward to prom dress shopping because her dress selection has to be practical, not just pretty. She has to find a style that allows her insulin pump to be accessible but not sticking out for all to see.
I?m asking you to help support my fundraising efforts with a donation which will go directly to research to find a cure for people like Ben and Alicia. Your tax-deductible gift will help make a difference in the lives of millions touched by T1D.
Thank you for your donation. You can make a difference. Together, we can make the hope for a cure, a reality for millions.
Donate now and help us find a cure!! Thank you!
