Help Me Stop T1D

When I was 27, despite being relatively healthy, I was diagnosed with diabetes.  I give myself shots of insulin multiple times a day to keep my blood sugars stable.  Insulin keeps me alive but it is not a cure.  Diabetes touches every aspect of my life, from personal, to work, to time with my family.  The last 2 years have been filled with ups and downs.  Some days a struggle to keep blood sugars within my preferred levels, running high at times and low at other times.  I consistently have to stop at work or when I am doing things I enjoy to treat low blood sugar.  I struggle with depression regularly, which is twice as likely to occur in people living with diabetes.  No matter what I am doing diabetes can never be far from my mind.  I have had the opportunity to see many other families touched by diabetes as well.  Most often Type 1 diabetes is diagnosed in children, sometimes before their first birthday.  Imagine having to give your newborn child daily shots for their entire childhood.  Imagine how living with Type 1 diabetes would change their life and make them feel so much different than the other kids.

The JDRF is a great organization and the money that our team reaises will be used to help fund research to find a cure for T1D.  Help us create a world where parents, spouses, and children don't have to hear that their loved one has Type 1 diabetes.  Help us raise the money that will help stop T1D.
