Thanks for visiting!
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is something that has deeply affected me and my family. I was diagnosed almost 14 years ago (at age 14) and I have an uncle and cousin with type 1 diabetes. I worry every day that my niece and my cousins' children could also be diagnosed with this disease. That is why JDRF is such an amazing organization. They work not only to find better ways to treat T1D, but also to prevent T1D and one day find a cure!!
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure. T1D is also not the same as type 2 diabetes (see this website for more info: jdrf.org/about-jdrf/fact-sheets/general-diabetes-facts/).
As the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
Thank you!! Your support means so much.
