Thanks for visiting my page!
I have been fundraising for JDRF for thirteen years now, ever since our oldest child, Henry, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Over the years, I've shared with you details about what's involved in living with diabetes day in and day out... finger pokes, site changes, doctor's appointments and dietary restrictions to name a few. Many of you have seen first-hand the tremendous effort it takes a 15 year-old boy to count every carb that he eats and balance it with insulin. You know by now that Type 1 diabetes is, in a word, relentless.
But did you know that I not only have a son with juvenile diabetes, but also a beautiful niece who was diagnosed just three years ago and an aunt who struggled with Type 1 diabetes her whole life before losing her battle in 1998 at age 49?
The progress that is being made toward finding a cure for juvenile diabetes and eliminating its complications is, well, life-changing. That's why, in honor of Henry and Savannah and Marj, we work hard every year to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF is the worldwide leader of the research to cure Type 1 diabetes and has been responsible for more than $1.7 billion in direct funding for diabetes research since it was founded in 1970, more than any other charity.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
With the proper funding, a cure for juvenile diabetes will certainly be available in Henry and Savannah's lifetime, possibly within the next 5 years. Henry and Savannah have a chance to put juvenile diabetes behind them. Join us in fighting for a cure. Together we can make a difference!
