Dear Family and Friends -
On Sunday, October 14, 2012 my family and I will be taking part in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes along with a half-million other walkers across the country. Our goal: To raise $90 million to help fund research for a cure for Type 1 diabetes and its complications. This will be my 8th year participating in the walk!
Type 1, or Juvenile Diabetes, is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people--a large and growing percentage of them children.
As many of you know, my nephew and godson Brian was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of three. Brian is thirteen now and thanks to the research and technology made possible through generous donations, he is wearing an insulin pump so he no longer has to have the daily insulin shots. One of Brian's goals is to find a cure for diabetes. Brian has gotten much better at recognizing signs associated with how he feels when his blood sugar is high or low so that is great, but it continues to be a daily struggle.
Brian is an outgoing and joyous boy who shares his love so generously - He is truly an amazing boy!
I'm writing to ask for your support because now more than ever, EACH of us can be a part of bringing about a cure. Each of us can make a real difference!
You have all been so generous in the past and your donation is greatly appreciated. Isn't it nice to know that your donation really impacts the lives of these children? If you can make a donation this year, no matter how small, it will be greatly appreciated.
The easiest way to support our team is to donate on-line at the link identified below. Cash and Check donations are also welcome. Checks should be made payable to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). The checks can be mailed to my home address: 4850 N. Winchester - Chicago, IL 60640. Your contributions, of course, are tax-deductible and any and all donations are most welcome!
Thank you for considering my request!
