Hi friends and family!
As you all have come to expect, this is my annual call for pledges for the Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes. You may have thought, "Well, she lives in Denver, maybe we're off the hook!"--but you'd be wrong!
Instead, I have decided to challenge my post-natal physical state and run a 5K the same day my friends will be walking to cure Juvenile Diabetes on October 6. Oddly, it's the Hot Chocolate 5K, so it's a little funny to be raising money for Diabetes on this one, but you can't win 'em all.
This will be my first time in eleven years not participating in the annual Chicago trek. But, since Lauren is STILL my best friend and she STILL has diabetes (our theme this year is "She's Still Got It,") I hope you'll support me in my own version of the "walk" this year.
Hopefully, your donations will inspire me to run the whole thing and not give up!
Thanks for your support!
P.S. Here's a note from our fearless team leader Lauren:
Diabetes. What did you think I was going to say?
As you may know, I live with type 1 diabetes (T1D). While many people believe that insulin is a cure for diabetes, it is only a way to manage the disease and try to prevent its complications. That's why I am committed to JDRF - the only global organization with a strategic plan to fight T1D. JDRF raises funds for research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until it is no longer a threat to anyone. I'm joining the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes to help raise the most money possible for the research that will help me continue to live a healthier and safer life while scientists search for a cure.
I may not live in Chicago anymore, but I’m still planning to participate in the Walk on the Lakefront on Sunday, October 6. For all my Chicago friends- please join me! We’ll walk, we’ll talk, we’ll eat a delicious brunch, hosted by Puck Saxon Goodman, who just-so-happens-to-be Sunny Obama’s brother. Plus, each walker get’s a t-shirt and a button! What more could you ask for?
If you’re not able to join us for the Walk- bummer. However, there’s still a way to support our team! Now more than ever, you can make a real difference in my life and the lives of all people with T1D. If you are able, please support me with a donation; every little bit helps!
To register for the Walk, or to donate to my team, please visit my fundraising page: http://www2.jdrf.org/goto/lrosenberg. If you do plan on walking, please register (or just let me know you plan to join us) by the end of next week, so we can order a shirt for you.
Thank you so much for however you choose to support me. I hope to see you at the Walk!
