Welcome to our JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Team Page!  

Extreme thirst, lack of eating food, excessive urination and had become lathargic was what I told our pediatrician for the sick visit June 9, 2011.  After a urine test and blood sugar test he diagnosed her with Type 1 diabetes and off the to stay at the hospital for 6 days we went.  Learning about Type 1 and all the thousands of things that are part of it.  Learning to give insulin shots, prick fingers and count carb being just the basics.  She lives bravely with Type 1 diabetes and it doesn't stop her.  She is full of life and energy.   In the last year we've had a few trips to the ER and 1 stay over the weekend due to complications of Type 1 diabetes.  We've struggled with high blood sugars and low blood sugars that a few times have caused seizures.   She may look normal to everyone but her pancreas is broken.  She has her insulin pump that is continuously giving insulin to her while she plays and while she sleeps. 

We need a cure for this disease!  I don't want to have to prick her little fingers several times a day just to see how she is because looking at her is not enough.  I don't want to go to sleep worrying if she'll wake up in the morning.  We need a cure!

We are taking steps to help JDRF achieve its goal of improving the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D.
