Welcome family and freinds to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
I'll be taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help The Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Fund assist with funding critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 12 years old and I have been living with this illness for 1o years. I have learned the challenges and succeses that come along with having this illness and I try and treat every day like it's a new day. Even though there is not a cure for this illness, I know through the donations and support of my family and friends, there will be a cure for diabetes in the future.
The Juvenille Diabetes Research Foundation is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Since this illness has not only impacted my life, my family's life, as well as millions of others around the world, I strongly encourage you to either donate money to my Walk fundrasing campaign or join my walking team, Katelyn's Klub, at the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes! Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
Thank you for your all of your love and support since my diagnosis! I appreciate everyone who has donated or walked with my team in the past! Keep it up and together we can find a cure!
