Welcome to my personal page. On June 25th, my family will be celebrating the third brithdays of two beautifully vibrant little muffins, John and Isabella Hurczyn. They came into the world earlier than expected, but surely the world became more beautiful that day. They fought their way out of NICU and became stronger everyday. Their mom, my sister, Heather Hurczyn and dad, my brother-in-law, Michael Hurczyn, showered them with love, bathed them in adoration and in the sunlight of their warm and loving home, these two little lives flourished. And life was good.
Five months ago, my sister noticed that Johnny was very thristy. He would even result to drinking water when he had depleted his milk supply for the day. Heather decided to take him to the Dr. Many of us thought that she might be overreacting, but there is something about a mother's instinct. I believe that my sister became a hero that day, because her instinct and fight for her son, well, she saved his life. During that whirlwind of a day, Johnny was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. And life was scary
I remember sitting in on one of their early appointments, trying to keep Johnny entertained so Heather and Michael could try to take in the overwhelming amount of information. I watched this beautiful boy, playing with his cars, coloring on me with markers, smiling, laughing, being a champion. I held on to these words spoken by the nurse, "He is a perfectly healthy boy who has Type 1 Diabetes." And life was better
There is so much science, research and breakthroughs that have occurred because of the money raised for JDRF. There is still so much more to be done to win this battle and to make Johnny's life as full and uncomplicated as possible. His smile, his laugh, his jump-they are my medicine, my sunlight. I hope that you can walk with us and see for yourself what a normal life he leads because of the advances in medicines and research and because of the unrelenting devotion of his parents. I hope that you can walk with us, because in Johnny's jump, skip and run, you will find lifelong inspiration. And life, because of your support, is good again. Alison Kelly (Johnny's Aunt)
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
