Hello! Once again, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with my family team, Team Trombley. This is the 11th year I have participated in this event. I am committed to JDRF's mission of improving lives and curing Type 1 diabetes because of my very special nephew, Jim Trombley. Jim was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 6 years old. Jim is now 16 and has been living with the challenges of Type 1 diabetes for almost 11 years.
As Jim's Aunt, I worry about the complications of this devastating disease such as heart attack, stroke, nerve damage, amputations, kidney failure, and blindness.
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more Type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure. I have seen the treatment improvements that were made possible by this research first hand, as Jim uses an insulin pump to administer his daily insulin.
That is why this research is so important, and you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible. Together, we can make the cure a reality!
Thank you for your support.
