Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million.
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. This has been a stark realization for the Moore and Nichols families. Kennedy being diagnosed in March of this year at age 6 and Lindsey only six days after her 10th birthday in December 2010.
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
For Kennedy, Lindsey and our families this has been a life changing event. One that does not go away with time or medicine. Type 1 diabetes never takes a break, and the threat of going too high or too low is ever constant. Unlike other illnesses Lindsey and Kennedy cannot skip doses or stop taking their medication, to do so has very real and very grave consequences.
Please donate today to help find a cure for this devastating disease, so that kids like Kennedy and Lindsey may one day have a normal life again. One without constant finger pokes, injections or having to worry about counting carbs and worrying about wheather or not the count and/or carb to insulin ratio is adequate.
