Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
Hi, my name is Bianca Palazzolo.
I'm your typical kid trying to live a typical life! However, on November 2, 2009 I didn't have such a typical day. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and my life was changed forever.
It is a disease that children and adults never outgrow and can never forget about. I have to check my blood sugar 6-8 times a a day. I also have to wear a pump which serves as my life support or on high sugar level days I give myself insulin injections just to stay alive.
Before I can even think about eating, I have to check my blood sugar. It's a constant balancing act.
Sometimes you win and your vigilance has paid off. Other times you don't....despite all the hard work. There are no guarantees.
Type 1 diabetes never sleeps. Type 1 diabetes never takes a vacation. Every day is a battle with a disease you can treat, but never completely control. The road ahead for people living with T1D is long and uncertain but you can help!
JDRF is the leading global organization focused on T1D research. I am walking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes to support the mission to improve the lives of every person living with disease.
To donate or join my team, (Bianca's Walking Wishes), go to walk.jdrf.org or just click donate. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Please join me in the global movement to cure, better treat, and prevent T1D.
Thank you for your support! Bianca
Dear Family & Friends:
On September 29, 2013, our family will be walking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. As you may know, we have a personal connection with type 1 diabetes (T1D) that affects millions of children and adults. Our daughter, Bianca, was diagnosed with T1D almost four years ago.
As you can imagine, this diagnosis of T1D has changed all of our lives forever. It has been quite a struggle this past year with her high blood sugars and trying to keep her under control.
Bianca started playing for Greg Grant AAU basketball in the fall of 2012 and her A1c dropped from 8.1 to 7.2 which was the best news we've had since she's been diagnosed. Unfortunately her activity level dropped after basketball season was over and her big growth spurt, her A1c jumped from 7.2 to 8.7 in the matter of two months. Day by day we've struggled to get back on track. Bianca started back up on basketball and is excited to go away for four days to Michigan State for their basketball camp the end of June.
While managing day to day through these life changes, we are committed to JDRF. We raise funds to fulfill the important mission to improve the lives of every person with T1D, while accelerating progress toward curing, better treating, and preventing the disease.
Please join us in our commitment to JDRF. We have formed our walk team to raise a goal of $8,000 to support the research required to cure, better treat, and prevent T1D, and to provide support while managing this disease. We are actively recruiting anyone who would like to join us on our team and raise money in support of Bianca and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Please know that more than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research- related education. Past JDRF research efforts have helped to significantly improve the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
We greatly appreciate your consideration and support of this worthy cause. We look forward to having as many people as possible join us. Even if you can’t join us at the walk, we appreciate any and all donations made as part of our fundraising efforts for JDRF.

Till a cure,
