On August 17th of this year we will be participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. As many of you know my son Justin at 10 years of age became very ill last Labor Day weekend and ended up in the pediatric intensive care unit for 3 days where we were told that he had Type 1 Diabetes. Just months later our neighbor Sam was diagnosed at 7 years of age.
Now almost a year later they are both very active little boys. They have learned to check their blood sugars, adjust their insulin according to what they are going to eat, and to give themselves shots. With all the struggles and challenges of Diabetes it has not slowed Justin down at all. He has continued his love for all sports like football, basketball, golf, baseball, and soccer. With the help of some great coaches and friends he just does his sugar checks and then gets right back into the game. Even so, their lives will never be the same again. They will be on insulin the rest of their lives and will have to battle the many complications the come with T1D. As of right now it cannot be prevented and there is no cure. Reasearch needs to be done to find a cause and hopefully a cure to this disease.
Please support Justin and Sam and the millions of people affected by this devastating, life threatening disease by donation to our JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes team.
Thank you for your support!
