Dear family and friends and TEAMMATES!!!!!
Thank you for your efforts to help support and raise funds to combat this wicked disease!
Again, this year, we will be taking part in JDRF's WALK TO CURE DIABETES - along with one-half million other walkers across the country.
Type1, or Juvenile Diabetes is a devastating auto-immune disease that affects millions of people, the largest and growing percentage of them children. Did you know that 1 in every 400 children is diagnosed each year?!?
There is some good news, though! JDRF is our best hope for finding a real cure. It funds more T1D research than any other charity WORLDWIDE ~ and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
As most of you know, Paige was diagnosed in June, 2010 and Parker was diagnosed in February 2011. Consequently, our team name is Paige & Parker's Promise. Our family has PROMISED that we will not stop fighting to help find the cure.
We are also SO PLEASED to announce that Parker has been selected to be this year's JDRF YOUTH AMBASSADOR for the walk! Parker was selected from many participants and we are so proud of him! It's quite an honor!
This disease is wicked, but both of them have stepped up, taken charge of their disease, and make sure that they are vigilant about their health. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop the numerous pokes to check their blood every couple of hours, the 2:00 a.m. BG tests, and of course, the insulin they must take with every bite and sip they take. Not to mention the additional insulin for "corrections". It truly is a life-altering threat, but they don't complain. They know it's what they HAVE to do. That's why we, our family and friends are walking. To help find a cure to ensure that Paige & Parker and all other T1D kids no long have to suffer daily and face an uncertain future! And... to eliminate the future curse of more kids being diagnosed!
Paigey and Parker are both working hard to raise money themselves, too! They understand the importance and they know what's at stake!
We are asking all of you, our family and friends, to join us on Sunday, September 29th at the GM Tech Center to walk with us to find a cure.

Thank you for your support and God bless you.
