Here we go again, asking you to join us in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes. Juvenile Diabetes has had a huge impact on me and my family. I have now been Diabetic for 30 years and my son and daughter are also burdened with this disease. Winston has had diabetes for almost 12 years and Hope for 6 years. In the pas t year Hope and I both became insulin pumpers. As exciting as this was it was also quite costly. Insurance covers some of it but not all. With the pump out monthly co-pays have also increased. I don't tell you this for you to feel bad for us. We are lucky there continues to be choices and treatments to help us live out best lives. It may be a reminder though that this is not a cure, it is after all only a treatment. Whether using a pump or injections we don't ever get to forget about balancing carbs to insulin, EVER.
. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure. Winston, Hope, and I had the opportunity a few years ago to participate in some of JDRF's awesome research by donating skin cells for stem cell research. It was amazing to see the work that is being done everyday.
Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
