Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year!!! I thought now would be a good time to send out my annual donation request for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) that I know all of you look forward to every year ; ) Thank you so much to all of you who donated last year and in previous years, my family and I greatly appreciate it and cannot thank you enough for your support.

This will be my 18th year fundraising and walking for the JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes along with a half-million other walkers across the country. I was diagnosed a few days before my 9th birthday.  It is pretty shocking to me to think I've had this disease two-thirds of my life, but it is also amazing to see the changes in technology and treatment that have occurred.

The goal for the 2013 Minnesota JDRF Walk is to raise $2.3 million to fund research for better treatment and a cure for type one diabetes and its complications. JDRF is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. As I've said for many years, a cure is getting close. Last June I went to a seminar that discussed advanced treatment options including an artificial pancreas, glucose responsive insulin, and islet regeneration that would better control blood sugars and make life with diabetes much easier. The donations that are raised will go towards further advancing this research and eventually leading to tangible treatment that would greatly benefit all of us who live with this disease.

Please give to JDRF as generously as you are able. I would greatly appreciate any help that you can provide. I know I am closer than ever to the day when I can stop asking for your ample donations!
