Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 20 years ago, just short of my 10th birthday.  Type 1 diabetes is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. At the time I was diagnosed, I had never even heard of this disease, and I innocently asked my mom how long it would be until they found a cure.  She told me that it would probably be around 20 years.  For a 10 year old, 20 years seemed like an eternity, so it is hard to believe that I am now actually at year 20 and still doing great!  Through modern advancements and the help of JDRF many tools have come out to help diabetics manager their diabetes easier until a cure is found.  I still hope and pray every day that a cure will be found... whether it is 2 years from now or another 20!
