Hi, I'm Riley, and I have Type 1 Diabetes.
I was diagnosed shortly after my fifth birthday, on November 3rd, 2008. In the beginning I tested my blood sugar 10 to 12 times a day, but also had to get 5-7 insulin shots a day. I still test that much but I now wear an insulin pump, which saves some pokes since it is connected to me at all times. The site needs to be moved to a different spot on my body every 2 to 3 days so that insulin will still absorb well.
Even though it has been over four years we still have problems getting me regulated and so I am sick a lot. I have missed a lot of school this year because of being sick. I joined a study to help the doctors figure out why what works for some kids my age, doesn't work for me very good.
Please view my video to see what so many others, including myself, go through on a daily basis. My mom made this video last year so remember the walk date for 2013, is on February 23rd.

Riley's Truckers will be walking at the Mall of America, for our 5th year, on February 23rd. If you would like to donate to help me, and all the other kids and adults that are affected with this disease, please click on donate now. Also, if you would like to walk with us that day, please contact my mom and we will get you a team shirt.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support!
Riley
