I'm participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes!
Welcome to our personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes "Team Logan" fundraising page! This year, we'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our nationwide goal of raising $94 million. †
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
It's time for the Walk again February 23 at 8 am at mall of America. Last year was our 1st walk and we want to thank all of you who contributed. It was a huge success Team Logan raised over 2000.00 !
A special thank you to all of you who got up so early and came out to walk with us!!
I can't tell you how much the walk meant to Logan. He doesn't personally know a lot of kids with diabetes. So for him to be at the walk and see all the other kids with diabetes and to have the support from all our friends and family meant more than words can ever express.† It was an amazing experience and we're so excited for this years walk.
Logan is doing great he got a pump which has cut his injections down from 6-7 injections per day to 1 injection every 3 days. What an amazing blessing that is! It makes him feel almost normal. He's such a trooper he never complains.
Unfortunately this years walk is even more important. On February 5th 2013 our 12 year old daughter Paige was †diagnosed with type 1 diabetes like Logan. It has been such a devastating blow for our family and Paige. One would think that the second time around hearing this news would be easier but it's not. In-fact it's worse. My heart aches for her. Her whole life has changed in a moment. I know most people think with diabetes that you take a pill or have a shot or even maybe they will grow out of it. But that's not the case at all with type 1 diabetes. It's checking your blood sugar every 3-4 hours. Measuring everything you eat and then taking a shot with it. Making sure when your going to gym class or going out to play that your blood sugar is high enough so that it doesn't go low because a bad low can kill you.
It's Rob and i making sure their blood sugar is good when they go to bed and if it's not setting the alarm to wake up and poke them in the middle of the night. And the first thing in the morning making sure their still breathing and that they've made it through the night. The constant stress and fear as a parent never goes away it's all day everyday. †
So Paige and Logan need your donations so that we can find a cure for diabetes and end injections forever! †Of course we would love to have you at the walk with us but if you can't attend don't worry we'll be happy to do the walking for you. Thank you so much for donation and all of your support. We couldn't do it without all of you!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
