Dear Family and Friends,

It has  been almost five years since our son, Griffin, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  Type 1 Diabetes is an auto immune disease that causes your body to stop producing insulin.  Griffin did nothing to cause it.  Diabetes is a disease that he will never outgrow. 

He is a typical fifth grade boy in many ways.  He loves to play sports and be active, he loves school, and he loves to play with his brothers.  He does not let anything slow him down; including his diabetes!  He has a positive attitude about life.  His wish is to live his life without diabetes.  Our family is more committed than ever to doing what we can to help find a cure so that one day soon his wish will become a reality.

The annual JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held on Saturday, February 23rd at the Mall of America.  Our family will be walking again this year with tens of thousands of others in support of finding a cure for diabetes. 

You can join us by helping in one of the following ways:

1)  We would like your financial support.  Please consider making a donation to our team.  Your support will give Griffin and kids like Griffin hope that one day there will be a cure for this disease.  To make a contribution in support of Griffin?s Cure Warriors, you can donate either online (see link at the bottom of this page) or by sending a check made out to JDRF to our home address (19160 English Avenue, Farmington, MN 55024)

2)  We ask that you consider joining our team,  and walk with us at the Mall of America.  For Griffin, this is an important part of his diabetes management; seeing how much support he has from family and friends.  The walk is something he is very excited about and it would mean even more to him to see family and friends walking proudly with him at the Mall of America.  If you choose to walk with us, we ask that you register each family member that is going to participate.   The site is listed below.    You are not expected to raise money if you register; it just helps JDRF with planning for the event.   By registering each family member that participates, it will also help us know how many team t-shirts to get!  It is a fun, leisurely walk inside the Mall of America, with no set time or distance requirements.   

Thank you for supporting our family and our efforts to find a cure.  We hope one day soon to tell Griffin that a cure has been found!
