Welcome!
As you all know, in the month of December 2008 I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Diabetes was formally known as juvenile diabetes because it?s usually diagnosed in children and young adults. In this disease the pancreas does not produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugars and foods into energy. Therefore people with type 1 have to do multiple injections per day, or have insulin delivered through a pump.
This disease changed my life forever and I hope that in my lifetime I will see a cure for this disease. If not a cure, at least a better way to manage the disease that would eliminate the effects the disease can have long term. But JDRF is working towards finding a cure for diabetes.
In the past my family and I have participated in the Walk to Cure diabetes at the Mall of America, which we are again doing so this year on February 23rd 2012. In hopes for everyone at the Walk to raise over 2 million dollars!
I would like to ask for your support again to help find a cure, through your thoughts, prayers, and also financially.
Thank you,
Ali Droogsma
