Join us in the fight to cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to our personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! We'll be taking part in this year?s Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. And they know it never goes away.
As I am sitting here typing this I still can't believe my son has T1D! I was diagnosed when I was 10 years old, over 25 years ago! It was a lot different back then, there were so many restrictions and I felt different than all of my friends. Even though I had support from my family and close friends I still felt different so I tried to keep my disease a secret. I don't want Jacob to be the way I was, I want him to know that it is ok and he is not alone. He can still accomplish anything he wants to do! I am doing the walk for the first time ever and I am doing it for my son!! Jacob has amazed me, he hasn't complained once about all the extras has to do just to eat a meal or a snack with having to count every single carb and actually having to research his meal before he can even take a bite, he just says it's a part of life! He has such a great attitude about his disease and he is such an inspiration to me! Please join us!!
We are asking for your support. Please donate to our personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help us make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Did you know that:
T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day?
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
